Whats the best textbook for learning french, or if there is an easier way what is it? I took french all through school (I'm Canadian) but have since forgotten it all ;_;

Not a textbook, but check out Assimil French. There's French with ease and French without Toil, both of which are on torrents on the interbuttz. Find them.
Also check:
Pimsleur
Michel Thomas
Anki (flashcard program)
French in Action
and look for other shit
Assimil is the best though
