Learning Swedish in 3 months

Hi, I'm going to Sweden for 3 months on a student exchange.  I'm a native English speaker.  How possible would it be to learn Swedish during this time abroad immersed in the language?

Most people are surprised, it is however, normal that most people switch to english when talking to tourists/visitors. Just tell them that you would like to talk swedish to pratice instead.

That would be the downside, no real language barriers exist and when they do, we tend to switch to english to resolve it.

Also, where in sweden will you be studying? several dialects exist and some might be hard to understand.
