Folks, I ask this board this question because I feel only those with a multiplicity of experiences and a capacity for frankness could help.
I'm going to be getting a B.A. in History (and hopefully a B.A. in Political Science, but I've, lets just say ughghghgh). I've come into this whole Russia thing rather late, due to falling in love with the Balkans fall of my sophomore year. I will be graduation with 2 years of Russian, and a focus in the Balkans.
I would like to go to a CREECA program because I feel they'll provide the multidisciplinary approach I enjoy, to further my enjoyment of history proper. The issue is my choice, and apparently one of the better programs, is located at UW-Madison.
It has a minor focus in the Balkans, so far as hosting lectures on literature in the vernacular, having Serbo-Croatian (its official designation at the university) language courses, and having guys with ћ's at the end of their names.
This...is not what I had in mind. Granted, I am not expecting a gigantic, hidden Balkan society floating around, but I was hoping for something a bit more.
Any suggestions? I would prefer something in the States due to loans not taking effect. Preferably something to do with Serbia or Croatia (a Bosnia or Albania is fine too).
