English (native)
Japanese (high intermediate)

Started out taking a year of Japanese classes at my college (which was all they had). Since that I've just been studying on my own using various torrented books, games, reading manga, watching drama and other shows in Japanese, etc.

Wanting to start learning another soon, probably German.

German (well, let's just say it's shit... I can read texts with a dictionary, but I can hardly talk and the grammar is beyond me)
Japanese (beginner. I took classes and did decently, but was dissatisfied with the level of teaching, so I decided I better go on by myself. Then I changed my mind about learning it, I'd rather try another European language next).

Spanish (used to be proficient, but it's been years)
Mandarin Chinese (learning)

我学中文学了六个月了。 It's only been a couple semesters in classes, but I've been fortunate to have great teachers.  I have only a basic knowledge, but I'm learning at a rate I'm happy with.  Hope to continue to fluency.

French is my first language, I learned English when i was 3-4 at school (I live in english speaking Canada). My english is now better than french, only because I don't often speak french. I miss it.

I speak french as my first language, and can read and understand almost perfectly in english, my writing is pretty good but my prononciation sounds really akward, mainly cause I don't talk in english often (except for swearing)

No, knowing french does not help with spanish. At all. Est-ce que connaitre l'anglais te permet de mieux comprendre le francais? Makes no sens.

First of all, learn Esperanto as early as possible.  It helps a lot with any subsequent languages.

Somehow this reminds me of an “all programming languages are the same except for syntax and keywords” troll.

Not at all.  The more languages you learn, the easier you'll find it.  Esperanto can be mastered much faster than most other languages.
