how can you learn japanese/chinese

their writing is just scribbles
it makes no sense
and there's tens thousands of them
how can you remember tens of thousands scribbles

Hiragana looks like scribbles to me. Characters look fine and are more tedious to learn in number than an alphabet or something, but it's not particularly difficult.

I'm looking at it from a Chinese perspective, by the way.

PS: You don't need to know tens of thousands of characters

PPS: /lang/ troll language looks like scribbles to me also but I seem to be able to read it just fine. Amazing!
