Best British accent

Name: Anonymous 2008-10-24 11:25

So, I was thinking. Being a Brit, I allways thought about accents, but where I live, people say we dont have an accent, but 15 miles down the road, they speak completly different. Whats the best accent?

glasgow

i find it so annoying when people say they don't have an accent. americans and canadians seem to do this more than other people, but it's just so fucking irritating. what don't these people understand? unless you don't speak, you have an accent. that's what an accent is.

fuck man

The accent that some Indians have which is close to RP but with a bit of Indian still in there. A bit like that that one character in Heroes.

Either that or the type of Scottish accent that Sean Connery has.

Not native English speaker here.

British English sounds like Dutch. American English sounds cooler.

where do you live and what "class" do you think you blong to?

>>10
cockney is not my cup of tea but i'm very much fond of the people
i hate what you call middle class brits, they are just vulgar snobs

American English is actually closer to Dutch than British English because American changed less than British English

Didn't know that. I stand by my statement though. I've heard people speak Dutch and been tricked initially that they were an Englishman. American English doesn't really sound like anything, now that I think of it. It's kind of an odd bird, but I think it sounds better.

i, for one, got love the redneck accent.

Name: Anonymous 2008-10-27 6:07

OP again.
We dont have 'classes'
I know what you mean, but this isnt the 18th century.
Im just a guy with a big house in a town, not posh and all that shit. If you wanna sterotype, then i'd let you know that I dont like tea, or crumpets. I dont know anyone posh, except for a rare minority of rich Londonfags.

My house is worth about $500,000 dollars, its not that rich, is it?

Name: Anonymous 2008-10-27 10:34

I don't know how you can hate crumpets. Crumpets are delicious and I'm an American. I swear, you Britfags complain but the worst stereotypes you get are bad teeth.

Name: Anonymous 2008-10-27 11:27

OP fucking again.
I seriously havn't a fucking clue where the whole bad teeth thing came from but its kind of... not true.

I suppose every country has their stereotypes;
America - Recknecks, Fat people
France - Everyones a mime :]
Australia - G'day mate and all that
Russia - Lets not even start on Russia...

That would be it.

I am cursed with it, but it's not very strong, so it isn't too bad.
