Pimsleur is SHIT. It just teaches you travel phrases, basically, and when learning a language the most important thing is first understanding the grammar structure etc., of which this taught me none. It got confusing after a while, too.

Pimsleur is good for pronunciation and everyday expressions. Don't count on it for vocabulary and grammar.

you don't deserve to learn something if you only rely on one resource. pimsleur is good for pronunciation (excellent, in fact), and not much else. so what? grammar books are good for grammar and dictionaries are good for words. use them all, idiots.

Power Japanese is nice. I like the fact that they screwed Romaji over and thought in Kana instead, lol. Plus it also has a lot of tips + drills to help you learn.

I liked the videos of Yan, "Lets learn Japanese basic" I think thats how it was called. It was very nice as a starting point to me, plus it also deals with the culture.

Pimsleur is nice for pronouncation.

And I got the Kanji from Heisig's books.

What concerns vocabulary, I got it from Japanese books + a dictionary.

Is power japanese is good for someone who's starting? Really, I can't take any classes and I'll probably learn better while doing the activities in those programs, if not, any others programs that good for starters?

Thanks

Anki does help for knowing how to write kanji.
When it shows the English meaning, I try to write down the kanji.

Its one of the best things to start at imo.

Ah thanks >>12 I'm totally starting and and I had no idea where to start. I want a program because activities and such are the best way to learn. I tryed The Rosetta Stone software but it isn't really good, it fails to deliver the grammar.

Really, thanks.

Something like 50-60% of the whole power Japanese course is grammar.
