Haven't been able to find anything that tells me what exactly "Leibstandarte" translates to in English. Any German can answer me? Google trnslation does nothing for me.
Leib = body, flesh (own)
like: mein Leib = my Flesh
but Leib is a word that have many meanings like "Bread" in Christian Churchs the Bread is called: Leib Jesu = Flesh of Jesus
so u can sometimes use Leib for Bread or for your own Body/flesh
Standarte a Standarte is hmmm... like a flag or a flag but this word have just as Leib many meanings for example sometimes i heard that this word have been used for an Star
but i think the SS or whatever ment: The big Hero Adolf Hitler
but it s very difficult to say what they ment cause the German grammer etc. have made BIG changes from 1900-1940 till yet
