Petitioning for a German class at my school

I've already got about 5-10 signatures, and our Latin/English teacher is fluent in it. Is it worth it?

For what is German so more useful? With Latin you understand a lot of ancient and medieval stuff firsthand, not to mention it helps understand a great deal of vocabulary and grammatic structure of many modern languages. With German... what do you get? Face it, the world's over with German, it ain't useful (nor beautiful) anymore.
