Questions to people learning Japanese

1. Who are you? (Age, sex, location and everything else you are willing to tell us)
2. Why are you learning Japanese.

I'm asking this because I want to know if the people who are trying (notice the word 'trying') to learn Japanese are just a bunch of weeaboo faggots, or if they have a more sane reason to do so.

(1) European closet aniwota weeaboo. I have some of the stereotypical physical traits too, but since I specialize in hard science, I don't stand out that much. I hold a well-paying teaching position at a very reputable higher-educational institution, so I'm not exactly a social outcast. It's probably best for everyone's sake that I'm not teaching in middle school, by the way.

(2) Because I'm a snobbish wota who likes watching his animu raw and doesn't ever touch translated manga. I've been interested in various aspect of Japanese culture since even before I got into anime, but it wasn't until I was (discretely) running my former school's anime club that I actually picked up the language. Now I'm taking JLPT 2kyu and Kanken 5kyu this fall, and I'm considering getting a master's degree in Japanese linguistics afterwards--for fun more than anything else, although it might help getting an overseas teaching position in Japan later, the sole idea of which is faptastic. Oh, and I dig Japanese girls, but don't we all.
