New language

Name: OP 2007-08-08 17:42 ID:xuZeUl0T

I pressumed this would be the best place to ask this question so I'll try even if it is actually innapropriate.

I'm a highly communicative person and I love social interaction, (even though I am a regular 4chan user) However I find that only knowing one language limits my possibilities of finding an equally intelligent and like-minded person so I want to learn a secondary language, (well I do know latin, but that's practically dead in terms of use) yet I'm not really good at learning a new language or even anything if I don't have a high interest in it, like most 4channers I lack motivation. High-school french got me nowhere (I'm a Britfag).

I just wanted to ask you on what language you would reccomend me to learn, I don't care about how many people speak it, especially as Chinese is a dominant language yet the chances of me talking to such a speaker is minimal considering thier suppresive government. I'm interested in learning an interesting language that many intelligent and emotive people speak, so I can readily talk to a new kind of being.

Do you understand what I'm on about? As a conclusion, give me advise on what language would be most interesting to learn and even national i.q's. I was thinking of learning Japanese but I from what I've heard most of them speak English anyway, I also like the Germanic and Russian people (not thier government, just most of thier people).

P.S My name is OP for when I reply in this thread I can be identified.

Mandarin Chinese is pretty easy actually. You don't have to conjugate any verbs or remember whether a word is feminine or masculine. So the grammar is a piece of cake and the words are not long and complex at all. It takes a while to get used to the language, though, but at least for me learning it has been rewarding, useful and fun.

The only hard things really are speaking (tones) and reading/writing (chinese characters), but you can become good at both if you just practise, practise and practise.
