Esperanto estas la estonteco.

Name: Lazaro Ludoviko ZAMENHOF 2007-06-17 5:48 ID:nUCe7aLa

In the future, everybody will speak Esperanto and this will automatically bring an end to all war, crime, poverty, and inequality. With the 'fina venko' having been achieved and all linguistic barriers destroyed, we will all live in eternal harmony, prosperity and brotherhood as one great human family under the sacred green star emblem of hope.

Diskutu.

Name: Anonymous 2007-06-18 16:31 ID:CWZLIsuM

in the present though only losers learn esperanto

also, discuss that the dude who made it did so with what he knew, which was the vocabulary of romance languages and the semantics of slavic languages.  thus, it is not a neutral language.

He was Polish. What do you expect of him?

to create a neutral language, or at least one easy to learn.  Like he claimed he did.

Rofl. Pardonumin Doktoro, sed kial vi estas en 4chan? Cxu pedourso estas vi? Reiru al/polando/ bonvlx.

Also, regardless of its original goals, Eo is still fun to know, and most people aren't fina venkists.

NE VI. MORTIGXU EN FAJRO, BVLU-K-DKN.

Seriously though, Esperanto is fun and sometimes even useful (e.g., Pasporta Servo), but for most people it's just a hobby. I learned it in high school because I was bored with Spanish class, I even attended the IJK in 2005, but I just can't imagine it gaining the momentum that the finvenkistoj keep hoping it will.

I'm more of a Raumist in some ways anyhow- let's just develop the language and culture amongst ourselves instead of lobbying to get it into the UN etc.

BTW, I lol'd @ "bonvlx."

If that's the case, why not just learn an existing artlang and drop the "interlanguage" angle?

Uh... what? I just got done saying that I do it as a hobby, and that the "international language" aspect is a waste of time. I'm not sure what you're getting at.

Why don't people learn real languages? Like Hindi, Chinese, Arabic, French, or even some fucking Gujarati or Estonian. All of them are waaaayyyy better than Esperanto, which is a waste of time IMO. Plus, Esperanto doesn't even sound or look beautiful.

That's your opinion. I like the way Esperanto sounds, and I could care less if it's "real" or "useful." Why should that stop one from learning it anyway?

(BTW, by some estimates, there are more speakers of Esperanto than of Estonian, and its usage is certainly more widespread.)

Esperanto should help in the future, but to be the only language is a little to much.

sage this shit because I fucking hate this travestite of language made up by a fool and pursued by morons.
(plus, it's ass-ugly)
