I remember, I downloaded a .txt file that contained a huge ass katakana list.
Basically, it was just a simple text file with the words written in katakana and the English word next to it. And it was a long long list, pretty much everything.
Looks a bit like this...
START QUOTE
エプル apple
バナナ banana
ケストレション castration
END QUOTE
etc..etc..etc...
I think I got it from here, or maybe from /b/, can't remember. If anyone knows where I can get it, I'd appreciated it.

By the way, when I say long list, I mean many many words.
The text file was about at least 500KiloBytes, maybe close to 1MB.
Like I said, just a long line of katakana then English words...

could be interesting perhaps, if it's not words that is already in edict
This is already basically built into Windows, just go into your settings on the language bar and turn on カタカナ語英語辞書. This will enable you to type a katakana word and have it come out in English. For example if I type "インフォメーション" and then press space a few times it comes up with "information". That way you know if you spelled the katakana word right or not.

Pretty shitty list if you ask me. Both apple and castration are katakanized incorrectly. One is "eple" and the other is "kestration" with the accent on the "tion." Apple ought to be アップル and castration is カストレーション. I think that the TXT file should be relevant to no one's interests except for people who want shitty Japanese.
Such a list would be fucking stupid and useless anyhow.
Except for some really, really commonly used or simple foreign words, there are no official correct spelling of anything in katakana.
Not to mention that katakana encompases all words from any language other than Japanese... which will run you into trouble if you choose to compile this list based on English alone. Like say, "Bread." The Japanese word for it in katakana is spelled "pan." (in case you didn't know, pan is the word for bread in some romantic languages) ... which sounds nothing like "Bread" in English.
They'll think you're a fucking moron if you try and use the phonetic katakanized spelling of bread.
