Sorry, but I am one of the few that sees /r/ as a pointless board.
Whenever I go to /r/ to request non porn materials. I get told to fuck off to the board related to what I am requesting.
And when I go the the boards related to my request, my request does get filled out most of the time.
Even if the rules says you aren't allowed to request on those boards. (I know, I know.. I don't care)
I understand it's to prevent people from spamming the other boards with requests only.
But it doesn't seem to matter as things are now, /r/ only helps with things that contains porn, and the other boards still get requests related to them and a large amount of them gets filled out.
So? should /r/ be removed as it doesn't serve a purpose? What do you think?
/r/ has sort of lost its purpose. Everyone requests board related materials on that specific board. Nobody really goes to /r/. It could be great if more people used it. But they don't so there really isn't a purpose to keep it around.

/r/ was originally because the original torrents board got spammed with requests back in 2004. I agree it sort of lost its way, but honestly what board on 4chan hasn't?

make porn /r/ and a non-pronz /r/, same with /gif/ and others imo.

No we don't need a new /R/ board for each of the other boards.
But the current /R/ doesn't have a purpose anymore.
so maybe... it's better with no /R/ board at all then?

Why do we need an /r/ board at all? If people want anime then they go to /a/ and make a request. If they want paranormal stuff they go to /x/. If they want .gifs they go to /gif/. If they want technology they go to /g/. If they want weaponry they go to /k/,etc. So why does /r/ exist anymore? It has outlived its usefulness.

So either remove /r/?
Or make another /r/ thats worksafe?
I would vote for removing /r/ and allow people to request on the other boards.

A worksafe /r/ sounds like a good idea. It has lost its purpose though.

You don't know of Senior Popcorn Mariachi? A grave injustice has been done this day. Go straight to /r/ and ask for him. You will get a pic of a piece of popcorn that is dancing in a decidedly fiesta-y fashion complete with sombrero. He's the mascot of /r/. Only newcomers don't know of him. Like >>18

Hi! another person here that also thinks /r/ is a shitty place.
Right, sorry I don't know shit about porn so I can't fill out others requests in /r/. Because thats the only thing that happens there.
If I want Comics and Cartoons, I go to /co/.
If I want Traditional Games, I got to /tg/.
etc...
why is that? Because my requests gets filled out, and I can fill out other people's requests those places.
And you know why? Because those pleaces are "relevant to my interests".
Have to disagree with you on that one. The only common trait shared by both boards is that you just get raeped if you request something other than porn.
/b/ is often downright surprising. You never cease learning something new from the board. Try posting/lurking on Sundays and Sayturdays. Fridays are quite good if you can stand the furfa.. erm, fur-thingy.

Let's just go ahead and deleted your ignorant and uninformed post instead.

no and heres why. /r/ is for requests, for info, for torrents, for help, and for fun. it serves its purpose, but it is overloaded with fuck tards who will say fuck off at a moments notice. take for example a few years ago. there was a poster who i have dubbed tooniefag. i call him that due to his hate for all things western art related. someone would request a rule 34, and he would spam the thread with his lame ass pics calling people toonie lovers. this lead to a flame war, and finally mods stepped in. he would spam they would ban. it didnt take long, now requests are just that. for what ever. i think of /r/ the same as /b/ without the faggots snaping up ever 30sec. to spam more shit.

4chan is a terrible website, get over it. It would be lovely if there were over 30 moderators located in every timezone around the globe nuking garbage posters left and right 24/7/365, but that's so much easier said than done.
A long time ago, /r/ did manage to accomplish something for me once.
I had requested text-less versions of the FMA OP "Melissa," specifically the very first part with the pan over Ed's automail arm. I was going to paste them together and create a one long shot of the whole thing, but the person who filled out that request also told me that the shot ROTATES and ZOOMS slightly in that scene as the pan happens and it wouldn't be easy to just paste them together. I thanked him for the screenshots anyway and started to consider how I could still accomplish this task.
Then, two days later, the thread is back on the first page with someone having FULFILLED my request: a full, text-less shot of the scene of Ed's arm from the first OP, proportioned decently. And an apology that the background had to be completely recolored because of the gradient used in the original shot.
