Concerning Forced Anonymousity

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-28 20:47

Forced random tripcodes based on an IP hash. If everyone had a random (cycling after 24 hours, perhaps) tripcode/name, then we would be forever rid of that annoying "same person" crap that anonymous is so good at misdetecting. There'd be no attention whoring since everyone is on a level playing field.

Read this interesting suggestion in /a/ and thought I'd bring it here for all of you to see.
So... what do you think?

You sound like a tripfag who strives for attention... I like forced anon, /b/ has been a better place with it since they used it. I remember threads of non-stop flaming between tripfags who think they are god and anon putting the tripfags back in their pitiful places.

STFU, tripfag.

GTFO EVERYONE IN THIS THREAD = SAME PERSON = TRIPFAGS

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-29 18:19

applying a random name based on the IP hash, like 420chan did is a good idea.  You can idenitfy yourself as the OP or other posters in the thread and you don't have to deal with tripfags.

the boards at 4-ch.net do this right? But they don't change the salt after 24 hours.

It would be a good thing on boards that still allow tripcodes as a way to end tripfag bullshit while still keeping the useful aspects of tripcodes, but I don't think it would add anything to /b/.

This would be a good way to prevent massive spamming as well, as you could easily point out the spammer and report him.

Is there any downside to this?

BUT THEN HOW DO I TROLL

You're probably uselsess as a troll if you can't work your way around this anyway.

Name: Anonymous 2007-02-11 7:01

4chan should ban anyone who uses the term "tripfag" thinking it sounds cool or witty or some such bullshit. That would help things quite a bit.

Name: Anonymous 2007-02-11 10:34

4chan should ban tripfags.

4chan should ban EVERYONE.  It would be more efficient and far more cost-effective.

Name: Anonymous 2007-02-12 4:26

Good idea. I suggest we start with you and then get bored and stop banning

Name: Anonymous 2007-02-12 18:24

completely misses the point of anonymity

Name: Anonymous 2007-02-15 23:51

How so?

Name: Anonymous 2007-02-16 8:34

forced anonymous for all the boards.
now.

These 2 have a point. I concur with this suggestion.

The spammers use proxies and change them when banned... unless they're twelwe or ignorant.

Everywhere but /n/, people there actually use the Name and Title fields for something.
BTW:
Couldn't there be a filter for repeated text, like if the string of characters were repeated three times or the same post sent twice it could be automatically blocked/reported.

ニュー速(VIP) does this okay, but it works better over there because the board is so huge and fast that you don't start noticing the same poster from thread to thread.  /b/ is still small enough that having IDs would kill the anonymity badly.  Also, I prefer no IDs anyway because I think being able to do sockpuppeting is fun.  I have a dynamic IP so I have no problem doing this on VIP, but I wish they wouldn't use IDs there anyway.

Wakaba has this weird hidden feature that gives people random English names that sticks with an IP per post, thread, or board (admin determines which).

It beats hashes in my opinion, because it's just as nonsensical, but way more memorable and entertaining than a hash.

I think this would do the most active boards good

what

Name: Anonymous 2007-03-18 15:48 ID:f1VYwRB9

no ID is more fun since you have no fucking clue if the OP just bel-aired his story or it was some other guy.

I think it's in Estonian. Lol.
