There are many american artists that draw photo realistic depictions of women, maybe that's the problem you have with it. realistic art of WOMEN, that is.
add to that most of what's used in asian "toons" are 14 year olds and most art styles center around making sure that comes across. But I have to consider that, odds are I'm making this statment to someone who still salivates over super deformed pictures of tifa from ff vii.
Here's a little thought for you,
those with a brain could actually look at a drawing and look at the anatomy, proportion,and lighting/shading, to tell if it's good or not, not nation of origin.
that's simply prefferance.
