Harder than Battletoads

"One of the best SNES games of all time, but one of the Hardest, too."

OK, so it goes like this: There's a vampire named Nosferatu. He takes a victim every night and drinks there blood. So he takes Chuck Norris's girl and traps her in his castle, and it's up to him to save her. So he rushes into every castle he can find, punches and kicks various assortments of monsters, hoping to find Nosferatu and kick his ass.

Graphics: 10/10
The graphics are pushed to the SNES's limits, with very detailed and realistic animation. It's nice watching the monsters fall back after punching them in the face. These graphics don't appear in SNES games very much, and you can tell that they spent a long time on this game. Very good.

Difficulty 10/10
This game is unbelievably hard. This is the hardest game I have ever played in my life. In Syabon Action, you gotta know all the tricks the game will shoot at you. In Nosferatu, you gotta know when, were, timing, and how to do it. For instants, There is a ledge you clime on at the 3rd level. On the other side, there is an ax going back and forth when it sees you. What you gotta do to not get hit by the ax is to remember to press B before right and not over shoot it. You also got to watch if you press right at the right time to not just make your guy jump up. This kinda thing happens all the time. All the time.

Control: 8/10
Unfortunately, this is were the dreamboat hits a reef. The controls were some of the worst I have ever seen in a game. To run, you have to tap the D-pad in whatever direction you want to go to and hold it, then push a complicated hit combo to slide/dodge.

Overall 9/10
Once you get the controls down, and know all the little movements and actions, this game can be pretty fun. The fun parts make up for all the frustrating parts. Like getting to round house kick a racist gorilla in the face never gets old.

So I replayed this game for nostalgia's sake but even with re-wind,infinite time, infinite muscle and maxxed-out life, I was getting my ass kicked more by the environment than by the actual monsters. Mostly because the hell-hounds couldn't take my muscles with the codes on. I almost didn't get to the final boss because of the endless backtracking and that last gate that you need to slide through but don't have enough space to get a running start for. I suddenly understand why the Crash Bandicoot series doesn't have this issue.

These controls are bullshit. I found myself hopping and crawling more than running. It's like playing QWOP all over again. It doesn't help that you are more unarmed than the Persian. The only game that left me this helpless is "clock tower" but at least in that game, you had superior reaction time for your character to save itself.
