Episode Three

Gabe looked down upon the vast bank of computer screens with a cold glistening eye. The floor of the dark and cavernous complex was littered with bones and snaking power cables. Robed acolytes chanted blasphemies and swung foul smelling incense through the murky air.
Gabe allowed himself a brief smile. Many miles away, a baby turned over in its sleep and died. Gabe sensed this and was pleased.
Through the darkest arts and most perverse technologies, Gabe had made himself immortal, a beast of flesh and iron, and now, beneath the dimming light of earth's dying sun, Half Life Episode 3 was nearing its completion.
He maneuvered his squamous, ratcheting form onto the waiting hover-disk, and, belching scalding hot steam from his many unnatural orifices, he began to rise slowly into the stinking darkness of the Valve-Drome.
“My Brethren !” he gurgled, the pistons in his throat pumping the decaying flesh rapidly to produce a close approximation of human speech.
“My brethren, the time of prophesy is at last at hand !”.
He moved a mechanized appendage to the control console at his side, and as he remotely activated their implanted enthusiasm chips, a tremendous cheer rose up from the assembled acolytes.
“Today the Great Gaem will be complete, today we shall all be complete! ”
He gestured towards a vast and intricate machine, stained red and black with centuries of rust and human gore.
“Bring forth the final sacrifices, that their life force may be blessed in communion with the multitudinous vidya, that their soul energy may complete the Great Gaem ! Hail the Vidya !”
As the prisoners were dragged screaming to the great Hammer of Gabe Eternal, the crowd began to chant – “The vidya, The vidya, The vidya …”.
Gabe, overcome with excitement, extended his Chain-Maul and began to fly around the cavern, indiscriminately eviscerating random acolytes, screaming and writhing in ecstasy as waves of gore splattered across his upturned face.
As the machine began to gear into life for the final time, they fell to the floor and commenced a vile orgy, laughing and screaming and vomiting among the bones and decaying flesh and tattered pages of forbidden lore that carpeted the chamber.
The huge grinding wheels at the base of the machine began to spin faster and faster, and the acolytes began to cast the prisoners into them, many of them leaping in themselves in fits of rapture. Lighting arced around the chamber and the air was thick with screams and the stench of blood.
As the last prisoner was pushed into the machine, he lowered his head and spoke -“I knew I wouldn’t live to see it finished.”
“At last the work of ages is complete !” Gabe roared in a gurgling, tremulous voice.
He accelerated his hover disk to the top of the machine’s great spire, where a glowing orange hybercube was slowing emerging from a heaving wall of flesh-like substrate, like a maggot erupting from an infected wound.
“SE EH AKAR NOR’ATH !” he screamed. “FE’H AKAR HAN Y’GOTH !”
As the hypercube merged with his body, the fabric of space time began to tear and flow towards him. All the universe that ever was and would be, all of infinity began to flow and merge into him, until at last there was Gabe and Gabe alone. Floating in the formless void of his own total existence, he raised his head and spoke: “Let there be light !”
And lo there was.
