So in Half Life, you explored a giant scientific facility with all types of interesting gizmos and gadgets. You had neat alien weaponry, and encountered aliens. Gman was just that, a government official to try and cover up the incident. Now he's some sort of God like entity (though I don't care that much, he's interesting to me).
Then we have Opposing force, where you have more alien weapons, more aliens and gman 'detains' Shepard because he knew too much. (Which means what happened to him? The whole world now knows about aliens).
Then, we have Half Life 2. For some reason, these unknown beings called combine take over the world (this is just bullshit right here) in 7 hours and gman drops Gordon in some shitty, horrible European city.
The only aliens are headcrabs, vortigaunts (who now work with you, what bullshit!) and the gunships. So the game pretty much doesn't have you fight aliens and military, you fight guys with masks and bugs and zombies. Forget the rest of the aliens.
And no alien weapons AT ALL. This is just absurd.
And I hated how open and wide the game was. So much to the point where you needed cars and boats. Really? Cars?
Alyx is just there for a crappy love interest, I wish she died in ep2.
The only part I truly liked was the end of HL2 where you're in the combine HQ. EP2 was a little neat with the advisors, and I liked the ending (I must say that the endings are the best parts).
So in short, how'd it go from a scientist fighting the military and aliens in black mesa to combine in an ugly European city?
