Stereotypes are created from grains of truth in bad experiences.  They are perpetrated because they're funny.

Also, it's a defense mechanism that all people have.  For these guys, they haven't been good with women.  In fact, they're often pushed away by them.  So they push women away first, so that they aren't hurt.
