BSD

Why didn't you just buy a console if you don't want to put up with operating systems?

Linux is free, more powerful and safer than windows, but windows has more games. My suggestion. Download Linux to use the interwebs and shit. And buy Windows to play games.

If you want to play games put windows XP on it. If you really have problems with the OS just deal with it. XP is not THAT bad!

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-24 8:50

since it is for gaming stick with Windows XP. To hell with Vista. Xp is the best gaming OS out there atm.

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-26 23:05

Windows XP, hands down. I've heard nothing but bad things about Vista. You could always create a Linux partition for fucking around, too.

What's the point of buying a gaming pc when you're going to run xp on it. XP = DX9 = same graphics as console shit

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-29 16:23

put on vista you fag, just make absolutely sure you install service pack 1.

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-29 20:37

Windows XP: only some compatibility issues, and an xbox hueg library of games to choose from. DX10 is overrated - the games look only a little better, and it puts a huge dent in your performance. Plus, you have to deal with Vista, which from everything I've heard is a steamin' pile o' crap (resource hog, compatibility issues, etc.). The advantage of Mac OS X is that Apple knows exactly what kind of hardware you'll be running on, so they can pick out the compatibility issues... but, then you're stuck with their sub-par and overpriced hardware, and an OS that has very few native games. What's more, it sounds like you built your own box, making the known hardware a moot point. If you install Linux, don't hope to play games... I respect people who use Linux because usually they have such mad coding skillz that making their own games is the fun part.

tl;dr windows xp

Look, just go with vista if you choose windows. I too hated vista when i first installed it. However I have gotten used to its quirks and if your computer is high end (Which if you built the 1000 comp yourself and already had screen etc it should be) you won't notice any performance issues. In fact I attempted to use xp the otehr day and found it... well lacking. And there hasn't been a game compatability issue i have had yet that I havent been able to get around
