Agreed, gayest retcon EVAR. Robotnik was a pretty cool name, and he had a cheesey backstory : he used to be Dr. Kintobor working on a machine to bring about good in the world (powered by chaos emeralds, cooled by rings), it blows up (obviously) and interacts with some mouldy eggs in his fridge, zomg Robotnik.
