Kingdom of Loathing

Anyone 'played' this? Why is the chat so full of utter failures at life glomping each other and being inane?

It wasn't bad. It wasn't great either. Kingdom of Loathing is only good if you really want to waste like 10-15 mins a day doing something on the net.

The game is ok as a time waster, its just that whenever I look at chat its full of horrible retards. Its like a load of bitter 'wacky' nerds being passive aggressive or socially inept all at once, in irc... Goddamn.

New players get dumped in /newbie by default.  It is a failure of a channel and you should never ever go there.  It's like /b/ populated by eight year olds, which differs from regular /b/ only in that they can't post guro.

Ascend (beat the game) once and you get into /veteran, or once in hardcore mode to get into /hardcore.  Both channels are far superior, with fewer fucking retards.

The game was made as and looks like a coffee break game, but it's surprisingly complex beyond that.
