I'd love to trade with Ampu-tan, but I don't really talk much nor do I battle much - so trading would be the extent of it.

Hey Nurse-kun, I'd be more than willing to help out with either trading or battling
I was reading some of the other things from the wikichan about this, and since I dunno how much of your questions were answered, from what I read I can tell you this:
You can't determine someone's IP or personal information from a friendcode. It's more of a password/identification for the Nintendo wifi center
Giving out a friendcode won't do anything, you can't battle or trade with someone unless both of you have entered each other's friendcodes
You can disable voice chat on all wifi by hitting the 'X' button on the DS when you're in the wifi lobby. If you invite to battle/trade with voicechat off, the other person is forced to turn their voicechat off to participate
Aside from that, only other way to communicate over wifi would be to use elaborate pokemon names or attached mail in trade (which is restricted to what you can write)
If it's just trade you're interested in, you may want to look into the Global Trade Station (GTS) if you haven't already. It's in the first major town
