downgrading psp firmware from 2.71

Anyone have any experience doing this? I want to access homebrew apps, etc, and I've noticed there's more than one downgrader available. Just wondering if anyone has done it so I know which is a good downgrader to go with

umm...yes.  here's a link to the newest safe one that's been proven to work.  BUT, you need GTA:LCS, the first edition.

Make sure you read through the thread. The OP goes through it step by step with this newb, and I think he uses slightly different files for that.

I should point out that guide tell you how to downgrade to 1.5 and then upgrade to 3.03 OE-B, which is what you want to do if you want to play PS1 games and UMD ISO's without DevHook.
