Better than Starcraft

Tell me about a RTS you played and considered better than Starcraft and why so.
I know Starcraft isn't perfect, there's lots of ways to improve it (better AI for the units, groups formations, easier micro-management, etc.), but it's got great balance between races and good tech trees, and it's very combat oriented.

Dawn of War is terrible, and should not even be in the same catagory as Starcraft, this coming from someone who doesn't even play starcraft >.>
