am I the only one who thought the junction system in FF8 completely blew? I mean the storyline wasn't bad but that thing fucking RUINED the game. I got up to Ultimaca's (or whatever her name was) castle and then Icouldn't beat the boss b/c I kept bullshitting my way through the game because of the fucking junction system.

- System Shock 2
One of those "different" RPG/FPS games, which I'm still waiting for a successor to.
- Chrono Trigger
Played it until I got star level on all characters, got optimum equipment + full tabs, and found every possible ending.
- Unreal
Has incredible atmosphere for an old game, but the Unreal series has gone downhill since UT2003 imo.
- Daggerfall & Morrowind
Absolutely brilliant. Oblivion can suck some ass.
- Every Thief Game
FPS steam punk stealth = cool lol

It (juction system) wasn't that bad. I mean it got confusing at times, but you get the hang of it. What really confused me for a long while was the Materia system. Shit, that frustrated me so bad. you can call me stupid for it but it really killed me in the inside.

1: Shenmue 1 and 2 (Dreamcast)
I'm counting this as the same game, since they follow on (and on Dreamcast you can transfer your save file). It raised the bar for all RPGs, but no other developer has followed.
2: Ico
The greatest work of art ever created
3: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
4: Doom
5: Lemmings
Best puzzle/stratergy game ever, every re-make and sequal since has been inferior.
I think those are solidly in order of amount of time spent playing. Battlefield 2 is my current addiction and I just broke 250 hours game time since I bought it a year ago.

Top five top five...
1. Half-Life 2 (For the sheer ambience of it all. Empty narrative though)
2. Silent Hill 2 (A perfect blend of art and games. Miles deeper than the angsty sequel and the shitty fourth iteration)
3. Baldur's Gate 2 (That atmosphere just didn't give up. Tons of stuff to do and well designed)
4. Devil May Cry 3 (I need a new adjective here. The depth of the combat system is insane. I'm almost ready to pay 600 for the sequel. Almost.)
5. (I can't decide. There's a bunch of beat-'em-ups battling for this position, and they all have strengths and weaknesses)

Star Control II
System Shock 2
Thief
Fallout
Rocket Jockey
I wanted to say something other than the norm, okay? (And besides, these games are great! Just not very well known to today's gamers...)
Other games someone else is bound to mention eventually:
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy III
Kingdom Hearts
Kingdom Hearts 2
Chrono Trigger
these are the best seriously

Bubble Burster : All of the Call Of Duty games have the same fundamental game mechanics and basis, that and all your games that you listed have been released in the last 4 years. In short, you've made a thread dedicated to a lousy recycled marketing scheme of Activision to milk a genre for profit to give a buch of stockholders sticky underwear. You classless consumer whore, you....There's a difference between a game and a title, a game is a unique gameplay experience, a title is something that costs $60 bucks and is released on a for-profit-basis.
For example, the entire Madden series is just one game, the entire SimCity series is one game, the first two Doom games is one game while Doom 3 is another game. I think you get the idea. A game is something that is fresh and unique, a title is something released to milk the idea of a game, like Call of Duty 2 or 3, or Halo 2.... And that's all there is to say about that.
We're listing games here, not titles.. I hope you learned the difference between the two, today.
Now, on topic, my top 5 games of all time would be:
1)Super Mario Bros. 3
2)Age Of Empires series
3)Sim City Series
4)Peasant's Quest
5)Dooms 1/2 + Obscure expansions and mods.... series

Of course, here comes the typical cliched jerk that thinks he can win an argument by telling people that what they think is an opinion.
Well THANK YOOOOOOOOOOUUU, princess, for your contribution to mankind, you've really made this discussion monumentally more productive instead of not pouring kerosene on an inflammatory post.
