Stop mispronouncing the Genesis as Mega Drive.

Maybe if you lived in Gods country you would have had systems with correct names and a wider library selection of the vidya games.

Everytime someone would mention Mega Drive I would always mistake what they were talking about for some vehicle part.

Maybe if you smelly unwashed toothless half breeds stopped using L's for your money sign you'd learn a thing or two about our language, the english language.

We'll stop calling it the 'mega drive' the same day you stop misspelling 'Amerikka' as 'America'.

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-08 12:14 (sage)

>>2
Uh-oh!  You spelled amerika with a capital letter!!

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-08 14:52

whoops my bad - that's what comes of seeing 'amerikka' misspelled by those damned amerikkans so many times.

uh... god's country would be Palestine/Israel. y'know, where his son was born.
and think about the word "english". what country name does it sound like? doesn't sound a whole lot like "america" to me.
and the only place I ever heard it called the "Genesis" was in america as well. perhaps you're the ones who are wrong? perhaps everyone else got the name right and you got it wrong? ever think about that? no? that's 'cos you're an american, who can barely think past his nose.

Fuck Joseph Smith and fuck the LDS Church. I was sexually abused by a ~20 year old US missionary when I was 12.

Fails.

It is known as Mega Drive in Japan. Dumb americans (lower case intended) changed it to Genesis. Then it was changed back to the correct name Mega Drive, in PAL (Europe) countries.

In conclusion, GTFO pls.

lol, massive fail. Mega Drive is a shitty name, only faggots and sailors would call it that.

Idiot Americans + Idiot Europeans = This thread fails.

Idiot Americans + Idiot Europeans + Idiot Jappas = Win.

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-10 22:30

I'd rather call it "Mega Drive" than a name based on a book from the bible.

Do you waps make fun of the Japanese for calling it "Mega Drive," or how about how they called the Nintendo the "Famicom," too?

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-10 22:31

I'd rather call it PC-Engine than TURBOGRAFX16

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-12 16:46

MERKINS GTFO

Why would we?  The choices Japanese make are always right, amerika is always wrong.

Thanks, >>12 here.

Um no, america sucks for "americanizing" everything (genesis lol), europe sucks for inferior game libraries (compared to usa) for any console.

Notice how I used lower cased letters for both amerikkka and europe.

Japan wins.

Why? Because Japan = superior (except in football) THAT'S RIGHT americans (and australians)... FOOTBALL.

And in case you're wondering, no I'm not a weeaboo, just a faggoty purist.

Name: TURDOFOTIS99PABDTML 2006-06-13 5:27

Well, here's something for amerikkkans to be happy about:

amerikkka: Dragon Quest VIII - Journey of the Cursed King.
europe: Dragon Quest - Journey of the Cursed King.

lol no VIII, europe are teh sux0rz.

Also, British English > amerikkkan english.

You fags think people care when you lower case something? Keep dreaming eurotrash maybe someday you'll find something to add importance to your existence.

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-13 8:14

serious business

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-13 8:25

Everyone fails because the same consoles and games are not released worldwide.

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-13 14:12

>>23

Actually, it's The Journey of the Cursed King.  That's right, the original title wasn't "correct enough," so they had to make sure that any time someone refers to the European title they mention "the."  People will have to waste a second to mention "this game contains The..." in Europe, just for that.  Great way to say "fuck you" to the rest of the world.

W...T...F... Bwahahaha. Wow, you're absolutely right anonymous, I'm impressed. Not even GameFAQs ( http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/data/583527.html ) picked this up.

LOL, that is fucking lame. Further proof that Europe is indeed a gaming wasteland.

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-13 18:48

We'll stop calling it the Mega Drive once you stop calling football 'soccer'.

Don't forget the whole metric system thing, too.

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-14 2:39

Enjoy your Probotector.

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-14 10:45

Thanks to >>1, I'm starting to see a trend here.

JAP -> U.S -> EURO

(PS2) Dark Chronicle -> Dark Cloud 2 -> Dark Chronicle

GJ Europe for going back to correct name.

(PS2) Zero -> Fatal Frame -> Project Zero
(PS2) Zero: Crimson Butterfly -> Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly -> Project Zero 2: Crimson Butterfly
(PS2) Zero: The Tormented (I assume) -> Fatal Frame 3: The Tormented -> Project Zero 3: The Tormented

Notice how none of the JAP versions have sequel numbers but the Western ones have. GJ Europe again for at least having some resemblance to the original title.

(PS2) Shadow Hearts II -> Shadow Hearts: Covenant -> Shadow Hearts: Covenant

Eh? Not only do you add a subtitle, you also remove the sequel number for no good reason. Have some consistency you fucking americans.

(PS2) Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter -> Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter -> Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter

Why motherfuckers? BoFI to IV have all been translated+localised. Why drop the fucking "V"?

(PS1) Alundra -> Alundra -> Adventures of Alundra, The

Shades of ""The" Journey of the Cursed King" here, "Alundra" is fucking fine thanks. Thumbs down Europe. Thumbs down again to Psygnosis (EU publisher) for forcing me to watch your fucking fancy-schmancy logo every time I turn on the game.

(PS2) Kagero 2: Dark Illusion -> Trapt -> Trapt

lol "trapt", what more needs to be said? This my friends, is the epitome of american bastardisation.

Trapt... Fatal Frame... Suikoden Tactics (Rhapsodia)... notice the pattern?

ITT, we will now discuss why americans (if not americans, then the thumbsucking monkeys at gaming HQ) are so shallow and cannot understand subtlety. Everything has gotta be boom-bam-obvious.

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-14 12:11

>>32

Everything has to be obvious because amerikans that don't live on the coast are stupid. They should divide the place up so that all the 'Sensible' states like New York and California are seperated.

US games generally don't change THE ENTIRE FUCKING GAME
The UK also believes Ninjas are responsible for inciting violence, and Bruce Lee movies cause kids to beat each other up.

Ninja Gaiden = Shadow Warriors
TMNT = Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles

http://contra.classicgaming.gamespy.com/features/probotector.htm

Castlevania: Bloodlines = Castlevania: The New Generation and removes blood in the title screen/game.  I still smirk at the pool of blue liquid.

Dracula XX becomes Castlevania: Dracula X -> Castlevania: Vampire's Kiss.  Why?

wipEout XL -> wipEout 2097
X-COM: UFO Defense -> X-COM: Enemy Unknown
Disney's Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers -> Donald Duck: Quack Attack
Tiny Toon Adventures: The Great Beanstalk -> Tiny Toon Adventures: Revenge of the Beanstalk
Shadow of the Ninja -> Blue Shadow
Blackthorne -> Blackhawk
Uniracer -> Unirally
Europe also gets a DDR clone- Dance: UK and Dance: UK eXtra Trax.  Well enjoy your Dance: UK.

Make sure your name change doesn't force you to regret it later.  Star Fox = Star Wing.  Star Fox 64 = Star Wing 64, except it was named Lylat Wars because Star Wing was already in use by another company.

Name changes only bring strife and hate.  The US changed Puzzle Bobble to Bust a Move, while the Bust a Move series had to be named Bust a Groove when brought over.  That's what happens when you think of "clever" name changes.  Learn your lesson, Europe.  At least we don't have to deal with names like Gryzor or Probotector II: Return of the Evil Forces.

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-14 13:44

Gunbird = Mobile Light Force
Shikigami = Mobile Light Force 2

http://www.insertcredit.com/reviews/mlf/

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-14 14:12

We also got Contra: Legacy of War and C: The Contra Adventure, two games from a Hungarian developer.  Contra fans have to try to fit these into the series somehow, or forget they ever existed.

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-14 20:47

You dumbarse, Wipeout 2097 is the correct name, the game was British made.

Also the Ninja ban thing in the eighties and nineties wasn't because of inciting violence, it was beacuse impressionable kids kept buying nunchucks and cracking their own heads open trying to be like Bruce Lee

arse?

GTFO aussie

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-14 23:39

Don't forget how "Dynamite Cop" somehow became "Die Hard" when it came to the U.S.

Name: TURDOFOTIS99PABDTML 2006-06-15 3:58

>>34 , points taken, but many games in the good ol' days (NES, SNES) were butchered by 'merikkkans and Eurofags alike. Mercifully, it doesn't happen too these days; can you name any current era (PS1, PS2) games that were butchered as hard as Probotector (Super Probotector also for SNES)?

That contra link gives a good point: "Some relatively recent games still have random things altered based on the tastes of the localizers - see Mega Man X5 and its legion of Guns n' Roses inspired boss names for an example"

I'm sure most of us would appreciate if the localisers would just stick to directly translating (Japanese) games into English and allow us to play and experience the games as it was originally intended, without modifying anything. That is my main bone of contention.

Speaking of name changes that bring strife and hate, consider the consequences of what seemed like a rational name change:

JAP ... US

Tales of Destiny [PS1] ... Tales of Destiny [PS1]
Tales of Eternia [PS1] ... Tales of Destiny II [PS1]

Although they are still faggots, this change was understandable for marketing reasons. But then, Namco JP strikes back:

Tales of Destiny II [PS2] ... No US equivalent

I almost want to believe this happened out of spite.

*Namco US changes Eternia to Destiny II*

Namco JP: "WTF? Fuck you then, well how about THIS!"

*Releases Tales of Destiny II (proper) in Japan*

*ToDII remains inside Japan*

U.S fails ;_; Europe gains an automatic fail since none of those even got released there, lol poorfuckers.

The PSP "Legend of Heroes" games had even WORSE name changes which still confuses me, even today. I still can't figure it out in fact. Basically, you can't tell whether LoH3 is really LoH3 or LoH2 and so on.

*sigh* The life of a gamer.
