Behold the PS3: the worst decisions made by industry hardware providers in the past 15 years conveniently amalgamated in a single console:

Sony is not doing well, at a projected production cost of 900-1200 dollars a unit, they losing a great deal of money in selling the unit alone (provided they don't cut parts quality at the last second like they did with the PS2). If they fail to deliver on games in even the slightest they'll lose even more money on the PS3 than with the PS2. And yes the PS2 was a money pit, they sold it at a lost and only recieved a lump liscensing fee from the game producers regardless how well the games sold.
