The Cost of Videogames Worldwide

Name: Anonymous 2006-04-05 12:07

Everyone knows one of the reasons region restrictions are imposed by the videogame industry is because they know they can charge more for the same product in certain countries.

An obvious example of this can been shown in the price differences between America and Britian: In America, the average newly released game is about $50 (£28.50). In Britain, the average cost of a newly released game is about £40 ($70)

Obviously, the British cost of living is higher than it is in America, so on the whole, The Britons earn more than the Americans, but to me, that doesnt justify such a massive difference in the price, just because they know the British can and will pay this massive price difference.

I'm British and I flat out refuse to buy PAL games because of this difference in price. Thanks to the internet, I can order all my games cheaper from the states, and I urge other Britons to do the same, unless someone can give a genuinely valid reason why Europe is charged more.

I'm also interested to know what countries sell games for the cheapest amount, and which countries are the most expensive. I'm pretty sure Britian will easily be in the top 3 if not the most expensive country considering the cost of living here in London is now on par with Tokyo *shakes head*

All your games suck and you self censor more than NoA did in the 80's.  I mean Probotector?  Hero Turtles?  You deserve your sub-par sports titles and lack of Japanese imports.
