This was to be my final hit. But let's be clear about this- there's final hits and final hits.

I know what FFXI represents, I'm sure alot of other people do.
You're either someone who knows or someone who needs to learn.
Go ahead and play it, if you need to learn. Some lessons are only taught painfully.

FFXI represents a withdrawl from a cruel world?

FFXI represents the complete and utter de-evoultion of mmorpgs and everything they stand for. Square proving how little (if at all) they can learn from a situation. Reminding us that they infact, do not know anything about making videogames anymore.

But it has so much atmosphere! I mean the graphics, the sound, the effects, the overall presentation... so alluring...
I'm one of the primary people here who hate and have been expressing hate towards the mmo industry and ffxi in specific. But I will agree with you on that.
Only things I ever liked about FFXI was the music and screen shots of the sky.

So what exactly is wrong with the game? Shitty gui? Horrible battle logic? Dependant on grind technique to keep interest?
What?

Dependant on grind technique to keep interest.

It's like saying what is wrong with heroine and crystal meth: Nothing, to the user.
It can't be that hard. All I have to do is spend 1-2 real life years to obtain one weapon for each job. With fifteen jobs plus 3 in the expansion, it will only take 18-36 years to get a relic weapon for every job. Then I will truly be leet! Ohhhhhhhh....

I'm about to purchase either CoV, WoW, GW, or DDO. Make your case for either.

If money isn't a problem and you have lots of free time, probably WoW, though I haven't played it. GW is more if you're intending to spend as much time on playing it as you would a FPS - so playing constantly will suck.
