Tried playing L2 once. Couldn't move in the towns, didn't like trying to run across the map and getting this weird fade-to-white effect, and assholes kept PKing me just because I was low-leveled. Screw them all.

Lineage 2 has to be the best MMORPG ever, know why? Because its the only modern, kickass looking mmo that you can play for free on private servers :D.

L2 is not shit.. but it is far from being the best mmorpg.
Oh, yea.. private servers.. they suck.
L2 has a boring landscape.
It is made to look good.. not play good.
Lvling up is just grinding mobs all the time.
I liked L2 in the beta.. but then WoW came.
All you do in L2 is walk around the landscape that is the same everywhere.. just empty hills.. and farm mobs that are always the same.
I know people that play on official.. and what do they do? They try to keep a room in Cruma tower for as long as possible while mobs spawn. TEH JOY!
What do I do in WoW? I do massive PvE raids with 40 people and really cool bosses. I do PvP battlegrounds that is not just PK, but with many objectives.
L2 needs a lot more fun quests to lvl up and PvP that is not just PKing (apart from that castle siege few times a week).

both of you go find some private servers then and it'll stop sucking + have no chinky campers/botters there just to make money. especially if you're experienced with that 'leveling takes years thing' cuz if you've been around that long you should have found a good stable private server.
1. Some areas of the game are made off-limits by a horde of poorly paid Chinese item farmers (if on a private server, replace Chinese item farmers with European + Russian douchebags)
2. Pathetic mid level players who do nothing but hunt newbies, and can't pvp for shit even against someone 10 levels below them.
3. Progress takes forever. If you're one of the best players on your server, chances are you either have no life or no sleep.
4. Scammers and looters are everywhere, and it's an accepted practice. In other words, the player community is total shit.
5. GMs on official servers do nothing, GMs on private servers are corrupt assholes so fair Giran sieges are out of the question.
6. Once you move out of level range, your chances of getting items from monsters goes down roughly 98%. This closes off many areas of the game once you get higher levels, it's also horribly gay if you're hunting for rare collectable weapons.
7. The map is too big, there's never enough monsters on the world map, and you move too damn slow. Taking 15 minutes to get to another town adds a sense of scale, but it's fucking boring and a waste of gaming time.
