No hard drive

Name: Anonymous 2013-02-12 18:43

A couple months back I was carrying my laptop and tripped, dropping it hard. From what I can tell I busted the hard drive.

If nothing else is broken would it be possible for me to run the computer using a Flash Drive? I just want to be able to play my favorite video game.

I'm not working now, so buying a new hard drive is out of the question.

You can boot an operating system from a Flash Drive, yes, but the biggest issue is getting an operating system on it. Unless you have a desktop or something you can use.

Another problem would be one you can play your games on, as the easiest operating systems to get your hands on are linux based. Recently Steam was released for Linux so if you're one of those people that just play Steam games congrats you don't gotta do anything.

Google some stuff for loading Operating systems onto flash drives and download your system of choice. Ubuntu is a popular choice, though I would suggest a variant, Xubuntu.

you can probably load it without a hard drive (the simplest solution it's a live cd) but i doubt you can play anything on it which wasn't pre-installed on that live cd/flash drive
