Dual boot.

Something unprecedented has happened to me.I unfortunately use windows at my home computer beacause my parents just know how to use it, but I rather use linux, and I use it on my laptop. So, here's the deal, I try to put a dual-boot (again) at my desktop with win7 and ubuntu 11.10.
I did "install ubuntu along with win7". And proceeded to install, and everything went normal, as usual.
But, there's no option to choose OS. Non.
The system enter ubuntu as default. And the windows files are sill there, but I can use it.
Someone know something about it?

It's been a long time since I dual booted (2002, i think) but I think what's happening here is your hard disk has your Linux partition set to default. There should be a command you can type into a terminal to set an active partition, or a utility built in to Linux to use.

If not, there was a disk image back in the late 90's called "super floppy" or "super disk". It makes a RAMdrive (just like Knoppix, or other live distros) and loads MS-DOS and other utilities. If you don't have a floppy drive, you can find ways to use a flash drive or CD/DVD etc. There may be CD versions of "super floppy" too.

Anyway, you can use this to get to "diskpart" or "partdisk" or whatever it's called to set the active partition. Or maybe "fdisk". Just check Google.

Once you're back to Win7 booting by default, your folks won't flip, and you can figure out what you did wrong.

I think "Lilo" is a multi-boot utility for Linux.

You might have to go into BIOS and change the boot sequence to get "super floppy" working.
