Two laptops (7, Vista) here. The router is non-wireless, use cables for internet/networking etc. When hooking it up....

They have identical TCP/IP for the connection. What else can I look for?

When you say identical TCP/IP do you mean you have both your laptops w/ the same IP address?

If so - change it, should work -

sounds like you're statically configuring the IP addresses, double check your subnet mask-

likely you have it setup like this

IP 192.168.1.23
SM 255.255.255.0
GW 192.168.1.1

Be sure both IP's are different - sounds like that's what's going on.
