Ok, so my family is looking to buy a cheap desktop computer as a "family" gift this Christmas. We aren't exactly poor but money has always been an issue. I figure that, pooled together, we would raise around $300-350 (total) to spend on something. I've seen some decent looking refurbs on NewEgg but I was wondering if we could do better than that.
* The old desktop is a generic low-end HP that's 6+ years old and showing it. (Can't even play SNES roms smoothly)
* We would NOT need a monitor since my dad found a nice used one a while ago. (same with speakers)
* An OS would technically not be necessary (since I've got them using Ubuntu) but Win7 would be *very* nice)
* Video card is not be top priority since it will be used mostly for word processing and email (but definitely some old games and roms)
Advice would be greatly appreciated!
