Actually, no. At least not in a secretive way. Firefox and IE do it to attempt to block phishing sites, but this can be disabled, and when disabled does not phone home at all.
Chrome on the other had data mines you with no way to disable it. Also it doesn't block you from phishing sites via the browser, so its purely for their benefit.
