I'm having a recurring problem with my firefox. It seems to periodically stop being able to save images and upload them. I can still use downthemall though. I solved it by deleting some random directory in application data but it's recurred at least 10 times. Anyone else in the same boat?

Try Chrome or Opera. If the same happens with them, then you can suspect your connection. If the problem seems fixed, then you can suspect Firefox.

you are in windows right?
and have you checked the mozilla bug report site?
i had the same problem using ssl tunneling some weaks ago on my laptop... just check your about:config
