I'm using a Toshiba laptop, very good, very new, very above-average hardware, plenty of RAM. I just switched from Vista to 7 today (clean install, not upgrade) and it's... slow. Startup is like molasses (seventeen seconds from power on to getting out of the Windows logo loading screen; five more to load the login screen; ten more to actually log on; five to ten seconds to actually load the programs that are supposed to load on startup) and I swear everything is just more sluggish. I'm pretty sure Firefox takes a full second longer to run the first time each startup, and I've had a lot of minor freezes when moving files around. The very first time I started using it right after install, Windows Explorer crashed five times for no apparent reason. Started right back up again each time and hasn't happened again, but shit man, what the hell?
So what the fuck? Is 7 not using my drivers like it should be? Is there something I can run to speed it up?
