KDE > Gnome (at least for me)

Anyone else have major performance issues running Gnome in Ubuntu?  Seems it's a major memory hog and I ends up using a Gig of memory even with all programs turned off, running after a day..  takes 5 minutes to open up Openoffice writer when this happens.

So I switched to KDE and everyone's sooo smooth..
