I have three hard drives, two SATA, one IDE.
Earlier, when I would resume from Sleep, my IDE DVD+RW would disappear. I then replaced an older IDE drive with a fresh SATA drive. Now for whatever reason, my one remaining IDE hard drive disappears (and the DVD doesn't anymore) when resuming from Sleep mode.
Searching some Google, I find people with similar problems. Some say it's the power supply. I took the culprit out and put it in an independently-powered external USB case. The exact same thing happens when using Sleep. Even when I turn off/ unplug/ replug the drive, Vista refuses to recognize it. The only way to get it back is to restart.
The only things I can think of are messing with the jumper settings (it currently doesn't have one) or replacing it with a SATA drive. My boot settings haven't changed, so I don't see any need to mess with them.
Thanks for reading my essay and maybe helping
