Windows 7 gifs?

Windows XP's Image and Fax Viewer could view animated gifs. Vista got rid of this functionality and only allowed viewing the first frame of a gif, instead requiring another program (such as Internet Explorer) to be used to view the gifs. This is incredibly annoying; that an OS can't natively view an animated gif is plain stupid. Does Windows 7 bring gifs back?
