Fedora Keybinding Problem

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-22 23:28

I used to use Fedora back in FC5 and now I want to go back. One problem: I can't figure out why my multimedia keys wont work properly without fucking up.

Fedora detects the keys and assigns the binding properly (I think it's XFAudio(Up/Down), but the two keys (Vol Up and Vol Down) go all the way up/down, then cause the keyboard, and menus refuse to function. Mouse works, yet nothing on the keyboard will aside from the volume keys.

Works perfectly fine on Ubuntu (which is one reason I switched).

Is this a pulse-audio, GNOME, Xorg, or just Fedora problem?

The computer is a Compaq Presario R4000Z.

OP here, It's XF86AudioLowerVolume and XF86AudioRaiseVolume. I just tried rebinding the keys on Ubuntu 8.04 and it still works. Any ideas why Fedora wouldn't be working?

Fedora sucks.
/g/entoo is your only hope.

Thanks you. I will sincerely consider that option.

UPDATE: I just ran "setxkbmap -print" to see what my settings were in Fedora as compared to Ubuntu. Here's the printout:

>Fedora
[liveuser@localhost ~]$ setxkbmap -print
xkb_keymap {
    xkb_keycodes  { include "evdev+aliases(qwerty)"    };
    xkb_types     { include "complete"    };
    xkb_compat    { include "complete"    };
    xkb_symbols   { include "pc+us+inet(evdev)"    };
    xkb_geometry  { include "pc(pc104)"    };
};
[liveuser@localhost ~]$

>Ubuntu
lulz@yomomshouse:~$ setxkbmap -print
xkb_keymap {
    xkb_keycodes  { include "xfree86+aliases(qwerty)"    };
    xkb_types     { include "complete"    };
    xkb_compat    { include "complete"    };
    xkb_symbols   { include "pc+us+inet(armada)"    };
    xkb_geometry  { include "pc(pc104)"    };
};
lulz@yomomshouse:~$

Tommorow (or maybe later on tonight), I'll set the keycode to Ubuntu's settings.
