No XP-compatible partition found.

I can't install any neither XP or Vista on a computer. Even though the enitre drive consists of unpartioned space I still can't install anything. Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do? I'm trying to find a jump drive version of Fdisk (I don't have any floppy discs), so as to delete the partion, but so far no luck. Not only that but seeing as how I have a 1 TB drive that may not be the way to go.

Also, if it helps any, the reason the error occured is because I installed a new 1.5 TB drive as backup. I can't even get the OS to install on that drive either.

That's kind of the problem; without an OS I'm having a slight difficulttimein doing that. I have been using ultimate boot disc, and after gettining Fdisk to run, set a primary partion; didn't work.

Since setting a primary partion didn't work I'm thinking if I could discover a way to boot start the computer that might work. The only problem? Everything requires floppy discs. My computer doesn't have an internal floppy, and frankly, I don't think external floppy drives work as good as their internal counterparts. Does anyone know of a CD basd boot disc for XP?

try using a ubuntu linux live disk. run the partitioner and format the desired hard drisk or partiton as ntfs or fat32 formats (there are what windows installs on.  after doing this try installing Ultimite directly onto the already formated drive.
