Netbook?

Name: Anonymous 2008-10-20 23:30

I'm currently trying to find a decent netbook. I want something with a screen that can do a real resolution (>1024x600), has >5hrs battery life, is about 3lbs or less, is reasonably cheap, has hardware that's supported reasonably well by linux, and has as close to a full sized keyboard as possible. Don't care very much about performance/storage space as all I'm using it for is notetaking + coding [and I can do the major builds on my desktop, so I don't care *too* much about compile time]. Suggestions?

OP here: the mac book is a full on laptop, too expensive. And the inspiron mini 9 has the same resolution problem. I realize that the product I'm looking for may not exist, but I do care about every one of those criteria.

But mac book is flat, even you can steal it from a baby.

I thought netbooks had to have smaller screens. If they had larger screens, wouldn't it be better to choose a standard notebook computer?

The $700 Eee 1000 sports a 10-in., 1024-by-600 widescreen display that nicely accommodates the modern Web page. The screen is bright and fairly sharp, though colors aren't rich because of the video driver's 16-bit color depth.
