failing hardware

A few weeks ago the image on my monitor started slowly pulsing in size after xp loaded. When opening a program or new window, sometimes the screen size would violently expand, shutting off the monitor. When this happens, I have to switch the monitor off then on again. the longer the computer is on the better it seems to get. I started getting some new symptoms, like the initial ram test/master&slave opening screen started displaying graphical glitches scattered about, green in color. I thought the monitor was failing until recently the computer started locking up quickly after loading to XP. Somehow I made it into safe mode now, but I'm still having the screen ballooning.

wtf. I don't have a second monitor to test with currently. Video card is gforce fx5200. Power supply is OK. Screen ballooning happened with spare video card too. mobo issue?

Anyone experience something similar?

- Overloaded or failing PSU
- Failing GPU
- Bad airflow around GPU
- Bad airflow inside case, clean it

Case is wide open. Routinely blasted free of dust. Doubt it's an airflow problem.
Does it with two different video cards. Does it with two different PSUs.

Interestingly enough, it doesn't lock up/act up (as bad) in safe mode.

OH WELL TIME TO BUY NEW HARDWARE.

Try new GPU, or switch back to onboard GPU
