My processor is a dual core AMD Athlon 64, and it safely overclocks to 2.15ghz. After a reinstall its down to 616mhz, I am baffled as to the reason. Care to shed some light on the situation? I did install the processor drivers but they do nothing.

In the bios it shows that it remains at 2.15, in Windows it shows something much the lesser

Install a better OS.

well installing a new OS wont help me, Vista slows, Mac slows further, Linux is NO GAEMS.
Granted I would choose Linux for a office computer.
Update is that overclocking is proportional to the 616mhz (lower higher) but it still is a ratio of 2.02 = 576 or something like that.

Your laptop is low on battery and is speedthrottling. GTFO.

Install the drivers from AMD.
Seriously.
That or it's throttling. Disable cool & quiet in the bios.
