RAM Help

Name: Anonymous 2008-05-10 5:00

I'm looking to upgrade my RAM from 512mb to 2gb on my Biostar M7VIZ mobo. I saw a special on a 2gb dual-channel kit, but I know that my mobo only supports single-channel mode (KM400 chipset). My question: If I use dual-channel RAM in my single-channel mobo, will the performance be affected significantly or will the RAM just downclock itself to single-channel performance? I want to know so I can see whether or not I should buy the kit or if I'm better off waiting so I can buy a couple of single-channel 1GB sticks. P.S. I apologize for the n00bish question and thank any/all help in advance.

Look into the manual of your mainboard to see what types of RAM it supports. Then buy that.

No such thing as single or dual channel ram it will work with either type of mobo. Obviously you will get more performance from a dual channel mobo.
