OK, so /v/ had an age of empires thread yesterday. Found my CD – great.
Only it doesn't work on XP unless you disable your video card (to allow for "corel draw" or some bullshit).
So I went right click desktop --> properties --> settings --> advanced/adapter (don't remember --> adapter/advanced -->
Brought me to a window with "disable/enable video card. So I disabled it.
And it worked. I restarted – the resolution was enlarged, but the game ran perfectly.
Now, it would stand to reason I could do the same thing again to enable my video card, right? Of course not. That would be logical. I try to refrain from playing around with my computer for this reason, but in the end, I said, shit, maybe if I disable the video card on now, the old one will be enabled. Of course, now I just get a blank screen after the desktop is loaded (but the XP intro screen works just fine). I can F8 and try safe mode/vga/reboot with last settings – but I still get a blank screen (somehow I've disabled my video card for vga mode :/ go figure).
I'm not the only idiot out there who's done this – I've read a couple threads via googlefu, infact one solution was to use "narrator" to reset my settings vocally, but for whatever reason, my OS doesn't have narrator or won't run it (or I'm just a douchebag with computers).
I could always attempt a system restore, or whatever, but I'd like to exhaust my other options, first.
Oh, and just FYI, my drive is partitioned with separate OS's so I can access all my settings/files/folders/etc. if there's a way to reset my video card manually, because of that, that's also an option (how I would do that, I've no idea).
