LCD Monitor Bluriness

Name: Anonymous 2008-04-04 22:26

Yesterday my 7 year old CRT monitor died and today I went out to buy a new one. I bought a 19 inch LCD monitor and upon setting it up I instantly noticed that it looks blurry and not as crisp as the one in the store. I've installed the monitor's drivers and it still looks blurry. I'm using the VGA connection to on-board video. Would investing in a video card with a DVI-D connection fix my problem? I'm currently running a resolution of 1280 X 768. I don't game so I don't want to spend too much on a video card. Also, I have my speakers next the the monitor. Could that cause a problem? Help would be very much appreciated.

You need to switch to your monitor's native resolution. Non-native resolution often look like shit.

Don't listen to this troll, OP. I don't notice any difference between DVI and VGA. Just change your resolution.

Hey, guys. Thanks for the responses. Thing is the resolution I'm currently using is the max resolution I can use on my motherboard. Should I just get a new video card that can handle higher resolutions?

You are fucking blind. Give your display to someone more deserving.

It's extremely unlikely you have a video card that can't output the resolution required by a 19". Look at the documentation for your screen, the maximum resolution is there, or just look up the reference of the lcd on the internet.

I guarantee the problem is upscaling due to non-native resolution.  The monitor is almost certainly 1280x1024, and unless you give it exactly that, it's going to look blurry.

How the fuck can the monitor become blurry from a VGA connector.

l2read. Never said that VGA will blur a LCD, just that there is a visible difference between VGA and DVI.

Did you properly unwrap the LCD monitor?
